I have had the privilege of serving at Indianhead Medical Center since 1981, building a career that has spanned more than four decades. I am a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine and am board-certified in Family Medicine. In my role as Medical Director, I provide care across outpatient, inpatient, and emergency settings.
My primary care focus centers on preventative medicine and the management of chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and pulmonary disorders, along with a strong commitment to quality elder care. I value building lasting relationships with my patients and take pride in delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. As I often say, working with great patients and great staff makes it easy to love what I do.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy biking, hiking, canoeing, and exploring the wilderness. I am also very skilled at getting lost, so my wife has wisely tasked my grandchildren with making sure “Papa” always finds his way back home.

My journey in healthcare began at age 16 when I started working as a CNA. I knew immediately that caring for others was the right path for me. I went on to earn my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Viterbo University and my Master of Science in Nursing from UW Oshkosh, and I am board-certified through ANCC as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Before becoming an FNP, I worked as a registered nurse for 18 years in a variety of clinical settings, including leadership and management roles. Ultimately, I felt called to return to school to expand my scope of practice and deepen the care I could provide. Today, I practice family medicine, offering comprehensive primary care across the lifespan.
My clinical interests include preventative health, chronic disease management, acute care, and patient education, with a special focus on women’s health and contraception. I am committed to making sure my patients feel heard and informed, and I am grateful to consistently receive positive feedback for taking the time to thoroughly explain conditions, answer questions, and provide attentive follow-up care.
I truly enjoy caring for patients of all ages and feel honored to serve my hometown community. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, outdoor sports, hiking, and horseback riding. At home, I stay busy with my two dogs, Jack and Clover.

I have a particular passion for pediatrics, focusing on the health and well-being of children from birth through young adulthood. In addition to pediatric care, I specialize in women’s health and dermatology. I live in Spooner with my husband, our five children, and many pets. As a family, we are building a small hobby farm that includes bees and a variety of animals. We enjoy spending time outdoors—kayaking, swimming, fishing, hiking, and snowshoeing—and strive to live off the land as much as possible. This includes growing our own food, making maple syrup, and creating natural medicines and salves from local plants.

I am a pediatrician, so my medical practice consists of those who are younger than 18 years old, basically from birth through high school. I am a general pediatrician, so I provide care for a variety of pediatric conditions.
For 25 years, I was a pediatrician in Medford, WI. In 2020, my husband and I moved to Spooner. Our 3 sons were off on their own and we wanted to be closer to our cabin on Madeline Island. I was a pediatrician in Spooner until the end of 2022. I left pediatrics because I was called to try something different. In the fall of 2022, I enrolled at Luther Seminary to work on my Master of Divinity which I earned in June of 2025. I served my internship at Salem Lutheran Church in Shell Lake. I was ordained and installed at Salem in August. I currently serve as their pastor.
I am a true Wisconsinite. I was raised in Madison. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin, and my medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin where I also met my husband. I enjoy spending time with family, friends and our yellow labrador. My husband is a retired family medicine physician. My eldest son is a pediatrician. My middle son is a chemical engineer. My youngest son and daughter-in-law are pilots. We keep busy, but also take time to stay connected with each other.

I grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and pursued my undergraduate degree at South Dakota State University. In 1990, I was honored to be accepted into the Physical Therapy program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, where I earned my Master’s degree in 1992.
I began my career at the Midwest Back Center in Sioux Falls, specializing in spinal care and rehabilitation until 1995. That year, my wife, Cristy, and I, along with our first daughter, Emma, moved to Huron, South Dakota, to establish a private practice.
In 2006, I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and CEO of Indianhead Medical Center during a hunting trip, which ultimately led to our move to Shell Lake in the summer of 2009. By then, our family had grown to include two more daughters, Hana and Grace.
All three of our children graduated from the Shell Lake School District, where I have proudly served on the school board since 2015. It has been a privilege and joy to watch our children grow up in this wonderful community. My family and I continue to embrace and enjoy all that Northern Wisconsin has to offer.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Health Science from UW-Stevens Point and my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from UW-Madison. Additionally, I am certified in LSVT BIG therapy for patients with Parkinson’s Disease. I also hold certification in dry needling for craniofacial, cervicothoracic, and upper extremity conditions.
I believe that high-quality, evidence-based healthcare should be accessible close to home, without requiring travel to a large city. I moved to Wisconsin from Minneapolis over 20 years ago to pursue my passion for treating patients in rural settings, drawn to an area reminiscent of my childhood vacations in northern Minnesota. After serving my country in the United States Navy in Maine and abroad, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Health Science and Master of Arts in Occupational Therapy from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota.
Before joining IMC and connecting with the wonderful people of Shell Lake and the surrounding communities, I spent 13 years at another small rural hospital, where I specialized in hand therapy, mental health, and ergonomics.
In 2009, as a newly single parent, I made the decision to work closer to home in Rice Lake. There, I continued my focus as the primary hand therapist and ergonomics leader while also becoming certified in lymphedema therapy. I expanded my experience further by providing care in nursing homes throughout the region.
At IMC, my focus expanded to include school-based therapy and Home Healthcare. I currently work with residents at our local nursing home, IMC inpatients and outpatients, addressing needs such as hand therapy, chronic swelling, ergonomics, and general occupational therapy.
Throughout my career, I have always found joy in working with people, and I consider myself a true “people person.” I am passionate about occupational therapy, and I love sharing that passion with my patients every day.
